Over my many trips in and out of casinos, playing various games, I have found one hidden roulette strategy that has yet to lose. Before I list this magical bet, I want to first make it clear that all are welcome at the roulette table.
Unlike many other table games, the goal is not to beat the dealer, but rather it is to match the result by predicting where the little white ball will land. The board allows for varying types of risk.
How to Play Roulette
How to play roulette in a nutshell – and for those of you who are pros, just be patient this will be quick. Okay now that we are in the nutshell, let me quickly explain.
Dealer spins tiny little white ball. The ball will eventually fall in a number 1 through 36 with each number being assigned a color, black or red. Also present are the numbers 0 and 00 which are colored green (don’t be fooled by the green color matching the color of money – betting green is not only frowned upon but it’s downright rude).
Knowing what the ball has a possibility to land on, you are then able to bet on a wide variety of options. From lower risk (lower payout) bets like red/black, even/odd, 1-18 or 19-36, all the way to the riskiest (highest payout) bets like betting an individual number – a 2.6% chance to hit. Sandwiched in between the low and high-risk options to wager on, you can bet thirds, columns, corners, rows, hoosker dos, hoosker don’ts, and so on!
In the end, if what you bet on aligns with where the ball lands, you win.
Listen Up
I know, you have never heard such elegant and downright perfect instructions on how to play roulette, but believe it or not, folks will often walk up to the roulette table and have no idea how to play.
Actually, this is the start of your secret roulette strategy training. Start to keep your ears open for people who have never played before.
As I said before, all are welcome. I generally think most people are generally willing to be helpful to a newbie. Show them the ropes, explain the board, give terrible gambling advice. You know, the stuff most of us degenerates do, but the next time a person walks up and says, “how do you play this game?”, you need to pause.
That single phrase unlocks potential. And please note that it comes in different varieties such as “I’ve never played this before”, “what is this?”, and my favorite “oh this looks like so much fun”. Once those words are spoken, its ‘go time’.
Go Time Initiated
What casinos can’t control is beginners’ luck, especially beginners luck with roulette. I’ve even seen pit bosses hear the phrase “that’s a pretty wheel, let’s try this silly game”, and they begin to sweat uncontrollably. They know what is to come. Without fail, the newbie will pick a few of their favorite numbers – their birthday, dad’s birthday, and can’t forget their boyfriends high school football number from 12 years ago.
Perfect Roulette Bet
The perfect roulette bet: bet exactly what this person bets. I don’t care if you never bet numbers, hate those numbers, or ran out of cash playing video blackjack – borrow some. If the person is extra obnoxious, bet more. If this person happens to be intoxicated, bet even more. If this person is either part of a bachelorette party or wearing a cowboy hat, bet it all!
You’re disappointed you waited this long for this advice? I was a skeptic at first too. I used to be just like every other seasoned person at the table that would roll my eyes when this person would be approaching. Hoping they don’t stand next to me. But one instance after another this person would hit their number, laugh hysterically, and drift away with a pile of chips in hand.
Don’t Think – Just Do
I can’t explain it. I hate to admit it. I just have learned to trust the process. When every fiber in your being wants to root against this person, stop and realize they are your saving grace. Your perfect roulette bet just walked up to the table. Even if they spill a little of their White Claw on you, trust the process.
Please note: If this exact person comes up to a blackjack table while you’re playing, run!
